we become God’s adopted sons in the regenerating water, it is fitting that the Spirit of His Son be given to us as well, in the chrismation that seals and completes the baptism. As a witness to this experience of sonship, the baptized faithful have the cry of “Abba! Father!” in their hearts (Rom. 8:15–16). This experience of God as Father is no vague and distant thing. The word Abba is Aramaic for “Papa” or “Daddy” and is different from the more formal title “Father.” It is a familiar form of address,
